Choosing Singapore: A Safe Haven for Education

Im’s journey began with the desire to study abroad, at the tender age of 16. Faced with concerns from parents about safety and a desire for quality education, Im sought a country that met these criteria. Singapore emerged as the perfect choice – a safe, culturally rich, and educationally advanced country with convenient transportation, making it easy to stay connected with home.

In the quest for a university that aligned with Im’s goals, SIM stood out. Renowned for its partnerships with prestigious institutions like the University of London and the University at Buffalo, SIM provides a platform for students to receive a world-class education. Im’s decision was solidified by the emphasis on real-world experience and the opportunity to participate in projects, which she did not experience back home.

Embracing Hands-On Learning

At SIM, the learning experience extends beyond traditional lectures. With a focus on hands-on projects and coding, the programme fostered a deeper understanding of the teaching materials. Im highlights the balance between project work and exams, ensuring a dynamic and enriching educational experience.

The study experience turned out to be easier than what Im had imagined initially. She shared about career workshops and learning support services that made her study life more enjoyable.

Activities Beyond the Classroom

Im’s involvement in clubs like the Networking & Innovation club and the IT club opened doors to valuable experiences.

Adapting to a new culture and environment is a concern for many international students. However, being in Asia reduces the cultural barrier. The International Student Office’s Onboarding Programme and Buddy Programme at SIM makes the transition seamless. Im also appreciates the caring mentors and diverse, yet close-knit community in SIM

Words of Wisdom: Preparation is Key

Im’s advice to aspiring international students is clear – preparation is key. Beyond academic achievements, building a portfolio of diverse activities enhances one’s profile. SIM, with its commitment to providing a passport to a bright future, stands ready to guide students on their transformative journey.

Im’s success story is a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing a world-class education in a supportive and culturally vibrant environment. For those dreaming of studying abroad, SIM beckons as a gateway to a future filled with opportunities and personal growth.
