Regional Storytelling Competition

Did you know that good presentation skills is an important and essential skill in today’s society? SIM is proud to host a regional storytelling competition where participants get to learn how to present their ideas as a storyteller. Participants will get to attend a complimentary storytelling workshop conducted by SIM’s very own subject expert, before putting what they have learnt into practice by competing in the actual storytelling competition in Round 2.

Moreover, all participants will get the chance to complete a complimentary Duolingo English Test (DET), which is an English proficiency tool designed for international students, recognised by universities worldwide.

Important Information:
Registration Period: 26 May – 13 June 2022
Who can participate: All Senior High School students from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan are welcome to register for the event.

Round 1
18 June 2022 | 2-4 PM (Singapore Time) – Open to all participants
Students will attend the storytelling workshop on 18 June 2022 and submit a 1 minute video of their takeaway from the workshop by 21 June 2022. Additionally, students are required to complete a complimentary Duolingo English Test (DET) by 21 June 2022, 5 pm.

All participants will be awarded a Certificate of Participation

Round 2
2 July 2022 | 2-4 PM (Singapore Time) – For selected participants from Round 1

2 minute virtual presentation based on one of the topics below:

a) What makes an ideal university for you?
b) What problems would you like to solve for the education industry in the 21st century?

Prizes
1st Prize: Macbook Air
2nd Prize: iPhone 13
3rd Prize: Apple Watch

The top 3 winners will also be given an application fee waiver when they apply to SIM GE programmes between 2022 and 2024.
